The Silent Patient

Below is a piece of raw unfiltered stream of thoughts, flown and shared onto the Swapbook Nagpur Group on 31 Decmber 2025 – 9:28 PM, below once you read, you will understand why this detail is important first, enjoy reading below! 😀

Brief about what I was before –
Finished “The Psychology of Money” in around 4/5 months, with catching up the pace in mid november,
just to finish and gift to a friend by December ending (26)

I had the belief that reading is something as an occasional thing,
self help and non fiction only kind of reader,
biographies, history, and tech only kind of reader.

Then Secret Santa came in,
and my super duper generous santa surprised me with all 3 mentioned books on the list,
bang on!

Here starts the gentle twist in story
.

I received the books the day I was back from 3 day trip,
and certainly not a chance to start, because even the previous one was due, and meet with the friend was coming near already!

eventually I glanced the book covers to taste the story a bit,

and choose “The Silent Patient” as the next pick after Psychology of Money

For me, I thought I am entering to study psychology,
little I knew, this will be a pure fiction novel, with Psychology being the base of plot,
I started The Silent Patient”, being intrigued,

not only I finished Psychology of money way before to eagerly pick the next,
I was not on it by 23 dec,
and fired next on The Silent Patient

It started with a peck of surprise, to have so much detail into the plot

Started wondering where are we heading,
but to my surprised, when I put it down it was 40 pages done already!!

everytime I pick it up, the surprise and suspense increased, and more and more questions raised,
leading to next session being more and more awaited!

(don’t worry no spoilers here!)

The Story touched psychology so intensely, yet the climax roared waves of surprises, and yet a full circle end!

In case it doesn’t makes sense, pleasssee read the book!

While Everyone was setting Aim to finish a book before New year,
I thought Psychology of money will quite be it,
Silent Patient will slip to next year,
But I am shocked to find out,
I am done and dusted and still reminiscing the brilliance of the writer to weave and entangle stories so beautifully.

There is a phrase midway “it’s harder to know who is who, she is me, I am her” and the brilliance of how it turned outtt!!!

Unbelievable at first!!!

And here is the final surprise,
The book is 336 Pages long,
Yes you read it correct,
Psychology of Money was ~250
took months,

The Silent Patient – 336,
Finished in weeks!

This finally breaks the chain of staying away from fiction
and finally embracing the excruciating pain and lengths a writer goes to create experiences for their readers,

Huge Respecttt to all authors writing such master pieces!

And Big Thank you to Shreya Jain (Secret Santa’25)⁩ for being the super duper generous Santa,
and Sukhada Chaudhary to orchestrate such a game changer activity every year!

Blessed to be here! (In Swapbook Nagpur)

A forever memory, as the first and the craziest thriller I ever read.
A special place in my heart for this one.

If you read this far, thank you from bottom of the heart!
and see you in the next post-completion memoir, and another tale to tell!

Best,
Anmoldeep
